Movies excite our imaginations and arouse our emotions. They make
us laugh and make us cry. They can make us flinch, shut our eyes, shriek,
scream, even jump out of our seats. They present us with an ever-changing cast
of unforgettable characters and an endless supply of memorable, even magical
cinematic moments. But if we were to focus our attention on the action behind
the camera and read between the frames, we would find an entire industry full
of storytellers, artists, businessmen, and crew involved in the making of a
film. It is the artistic vision and expressions of these filmmakers that has
made the movies a defining element of our culture.
Through this class I want you learn that in art there is not just
one solution. I want you to construct your own questions, cultivate critical
thinking skills, and find your own right answers. Throughout this semester,
have fun, take risks, challenge yourself, and enjoy the video production
experience.
